A Night of Wax and Gold
Once upon a time... there was “A Night of Wax and Gold”, a holiday tale by Diptyque.

This year, Diptyque celebrates the season with an invitation to lose yourself in an enchanted story set in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés — spirited, wondrous, all aglow with imagination.

The trio of artists behind this creation echo Diptyque's three founders: Contemporary poet Victor Pouchet created the winter tale, illustrated with surrealism and humor by Parisian illustrator and bookseller Vincent Puente. Inès Mélia, a boldly imaginative artist, works with shapes and materials to infuse a narrative dimension into poetic objets d'art that transform the narrative into tangible form.

Set in a bookshop in Saint-Germain-des-Prés a few days before Christmas, the tale follows the shopkeeper and his mischievous, highly literate cat, Archibald. The pair discover a peculiar power of attraction in a small pine cone dipped in the shimmering wax of a scented candle. As the pages turn, the alchemy of the holidays unfolds...

This year, the icons of winter escape from a fairy tale, adorned with surreal designs and golden motifs. Their boxes and wrapping papers become the precious pages of the tale, infused with poetry and light. This fairy tale is a celebration of enchantment, where every detail heightens the magic of the holidays.

Founded in 1964 by master craftsman Giovanni Battista Parise in a small medieval town in northern Italy, the Soffieria Parise glassblowing workshop creates objects for the table and home décor. In the atelier, artisans train on the flame-blown glass technique, particularly suited to borosilicate glass, to preserve the founder’s expertise. For Diptyque, these glassblowers have brought decorative ornaments to life, playing with transparency and surprise, bringing light and joy to the holiday season.
