Once upon a time... there was “A Night of Wax and Gold”, a holiday tale by Diptyque.

This year, Diptyque celebrates the season with an invitation to lose yourself in an enchanted story set in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés — spirited, wondrous, all aglow with imagination.

The trio of artists behind this creation echo Diptyque's three founders: Contemporary poet Victor Pouchet created the winter tale, illustrated with surrealism and humor by Parisian illustrator and bookseller Vincent Puente. Inès Mélia, a boldly imaginative artist, works with shapes and materials to infuse a narrative dimension into poetic objets d'art that transform the narrative into tangible form.

Set in a bookshop in Saint-Germain-des-Prés a few days before Christmas, the tale follows the shopkeeper and his mischievous, highly literate cat, Archibald. The pair discover a peculiar power of attraction in a small pine cone dipped in the shimmering wax of a scented candle. As the pages turn, the alchemy of the holidays unfolds...

This year, the icons of winter escape from a fairy tale, adorned with surreal designs and golden motifs. Their boxes and wrapping papers become the precious pages of the tale, infused with poetry and light. This fairy tale is a celebration of enchantment, where every detail heightens the magic of the holidays.

Made from scented molded wax with golden figures, the Advent Candle is a true technical feat. It requires unique expertise and craftsmanship to ensure the perfect concentration and diffusion of the scent throughout each level.

Annotated with the first 25 days of December, the Diptyque Advent Candle is to be lit each day and left to burn down to the next level (from 1 to 25), heightening festive anticipation throughout the month.

- Do not burn the Advent Candle on a delicate surface, such as wood, to avoid risk of leaving marks. The use of a base or bowl is recommended, along with the protective felt disc included.

- Do not leave the candle unattended, or place it in a draft, to prevent the flame from tilting and the wax from burning unevenly.

- To ensure that the candle burns evenly, check that the wick is well centered and cut it with the wick cutter (ideal length 3-5 mm).

- From number 10 down, let the candle burn for at least 3 hours (but not more than 4) to prevent the wax from hollowing out and forming a well around the wick.

- Total burn time: approx. 90 hours.
